Triad United Rowing Prepares for Youth Nationals

Triad United Rowing will conclude its competitive spring season at the USRowing Youth National Championships, held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida, from June 11–14.

As the premier junior rowing event in the United States, the regatta brings together more than 4,000 athletes from 230 programs across the country. Competing at this level requires sustained technical development and conditioning throughout the year, with selection finalized at the USRowing Southeast regional qualifiers.

Following strong team performances at early season fixtures, including the Clemson Sprints and the North Carolina Rowing Championships, Triad United is sending three distinct crews to contest national titles.

The Entries

1. Women’s Youth Pair (2-)

  • Lineup: Coco Brisson, Ali Bleakney The straight pair is widely considered one of the purest tests of sweep rowing discipline. Without a coxswain or a second set of oars to balance the boat, success depends entirely on the symmetric distribution of power and perfect coordination between both athletes. Coco and Ali have demonstrated strong technical execution throughout the spring campaign and will represent Triad United's continued development in elite sweep rowing.

2. Women’s U16 Coxed Quad (4x+)

  • Lineup: Kendal Hurley, OGH Harrison, Cora Bunton, Fyona Thompson

  • Coxswain: Piper Birth Sculling requires precise synchronicity and blade placement, a challenge magnified in the coxed quad where every micro-adjustment impacts hull speed. Guided by their coxswain, this under-16 crew has refined their rhythm and blade work over the course of the season, earning their place on the national starting line with a bronze medal win at Youth Regionals.

3. Women’s U17 Single Scull (1x)

  • Rower: Lamia Bunton The single scull is an uncompromising discipline that demands absolute self-reliance, physical endurance, and precise watercraft handling. Competing alone against a deep national field requires high tactical maturity and the ability to maintain efficient boat run under extreme pressure. Lamia qualified for Nationals with a silver medal finish at SE Regionals.
