This week Dr. Lenny Peters presented a gift of $25,000 to the Triad United Rowing Association to assist with hosting the North Carolina Rowing Championships on April 9 at Oak Hollow Lake. The series of boat races will be an all day rowing regatta for eight hundred rowers in 270 boats from the Carolinas and surrounding states. Thousands of spectators are expected to cheer the teams on from shore.
"The Lenny Peters Foundation and Bethany Medical are honored to sponsor this event here in High Point, where visitors can appreciate what Triad residents know better than to take for granted – that the beauty and welcoming spirit encapsulated in this region of North Carolina are unmatched!" said Dr. Peters.
Dr. Lenny Peters established Bethany Medical in 1987, to bring affordable, accessible healthcare to High Point. Now 35 years later, his practice has grown to become the largest independent provider of healthcare in the region and the largest minority-owned business in the state.
"This will be the biggest rowing event ever to take place in North Carolina," said Triad United Rowing Coach Gene Kininmonth. "We could not do it without improving our infrastructure at the lake, which is made possible thanks to sponsorship of caring High Point philanthropists such as Dr. Peters."
