Paris Olympians Set to Headline Dr Lenny Peters Cup at 2024 High Point Autumn Rowing Festival

The 2024 High Point Autumn Rowing Festival plans to host up to six international rowing crews featuring Paris Olympians racing regional NCAA programs for the Dr. Lenny Peters Cup when the annual event takes place at Oak Hollow Lake On October 6. 

Race director Gene Kininmonth says the annual rowing regatta presented by Bethany Medical & the Lenny Peters Foundation continues to grow and attract world wide interest. 

"We expect a record number of 1200 rowers and several thousand spectators at this year's 2024 HPARF. The addition of Paris Olympians is drawing additional interest this year," said Kininmonth.

Last year's main event featured a headline match race between the Ukraine Olympic women's team and Duke University. Both teams have committed to returning to High Point in October. 

Final announcements of international crews and Division I NCAA programs are expected to be made September 1.  

With key corporate support coming from Bethany Medical and the Lenny Peters Foundation, the sport of rowing has taken off at Oak Hollow Lake. “Festival Park is one of a kind for hosting water sports events,” says Kininmonth. “We also have the best volunteer support team in the country.”

In addition to the rowing, there will be food trucks and a beer garden called the Duck Bar for locals. There will also be a Best in Show Dog competition. Bring your friendly dog on a leash."

For a more upscale experience spectators can enjoy watching the races from the Lenny Peters Regatta Lounge, which opens at 8am. The lounge fee includes morning coffee, pastries, hot lunch, champagne or a signature cocktail and the best view of the racing. Tickets are available on Triad United Rowing’s website. Early bird discounts are currently available. 

Thousands of spectators are expected for the 9th running of the rowing festival. Over eighty percent of visitors will be coming from out of state making this an economic impact event for the city.

Rowers will race in youth, collegiate, and Masters categories.
